ABOUT US
Louise McCabe and Lucy Rhoades founded Guilty Pleasures in 2017 as a cabaret and burlesque festival in Byron Bay's beautiful vintage neighbour, Brunswick Heads. The weekend event showcased an amazing array of artists from all around Australia, in conjunction with the world-famous Brunswick Picture House.
In 2018, Guilty Pleasures rebranded to Guilty Pleasures Shows, presenting its unique hybrid of theatre, music and cabaret. Guilty Pleasure's dark cabaret The Secret Parlour was a sell-out success, The Runner Up won audience pick at the 2017 Hot Shorts Festival while our cabaret piece Who Killed Lulu Delacour? was finalist in Queensland's Short and Sweet Festival.
Now based in Kaurna country (Adelaide), Guilty Pleasures Shows premiered the hour-long version of our award-winning rock'n'roll comedy
The Runner Up by Louise McCabe at The Adelaide Fringe in 2019 and 2020. The show had a great response from audience and critics alike.
In 2021, Guilty Pleasures staged A Tribute to Kate Bush, featuring the ethereal vocals of Celtic singer, Siobhan Owen and six of Adelaide's finest musicians at Holden Street Theatres. The show sold out and got rave reviews and standing ovations. We reprised the show in 2022 at Nexus Arts as part of the Cabaret Fringe Festival.
